2012 KBEA Scholarship Recipients Announced

The KBEA Scholarship Committee has selected three scholarship recipients. Each of the following students will receive $500 to use for their education:

Jed Wilde, Seward High School – Jed plans to attend the Boise State University majoring in Education.  He hopes to one day be a Science and Math teacher.

Brooke Hughes, Skyview High School – Brooke plans to attend Northern Arizona University.  She plans on receiving and Art and Psychology degree, with an emphasis on Art Therapy.

Savannah Smith, Soldotna High School – Savannah will be attending the Central Washington University. She would like to pursue getting a Bachelors and Masters in Education.

Students are selected not only upon their academic achievement, but also upon their extracurricular activities, community involvement, work experience, personal references, essay, and financial plan. The committee looks for students who are well-rounded good citizens with great potential.

This year we received 33 applications from graduating seniors on the Kenai Peninsula. Reviewing the applications and selecting the recipients is always a time consuming and difficult process. Special thanks  goes out to Lynne Carter, Holly Hastings  and Misty Merriman for serving on this  worthwhile committee.
