Thank You and on to 2013

Did 2012 seem to fly by in the blink of an eye to you? It did for me, and while this year might have seemed extra short, it’s a year we have a lot to look back upon and be proud of.

Throughout the entire year, many of our members have regularly, every single week, volunteered their time to serve lunch at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. This year, we also helped sponsor the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank’s annual Soup Supper fundraiser with a financial contribution and volunteer time. I want to offer all of you that helped in these efforts a great big THANK YOU!

We also continued with our decades-long tradition of collecting food and money to make sure a few families in need can still enjoy wonderful meals with their families during the holidays. I’m always impressed — yet never surprised — by the generosity of our members. Jerri Braun and Lauri Lingafelt deserve special recognition for the time and effort they put into this year’s program; when you see them, please offer them your gratitude. In addition to them, there are many others that make this effort so successful each year. Thank you to all of you.

An important part of KBEA’s mission statement is to work to “make our communities a better place to live”, and there is no doubt that we’ve lived up to that charge. KBEA is made up of so many civic-minded individuals, and our efforts, both as individuals and as a union, are felt around the Peninsula.

It is a privilege and an honor to represent such a giving, compassionate, and integral part of our community.

Thank you all for 2012, and I look forward to an even greater 2013!
